Layla Hybrid Mattress Review
The flippable Layla Hybrid Mattress combines two different types of memory foam and a core of pocketed coils to provide the support needed for a restful sleep. One side of the mattress uses thin layers of memory foam to make it more firm, while the other features thicker layers for more cushioning. This allows the user to choose which side works best for their needs.
The top memory foam comfort layer on each side is infused with copper gel, which is intended to keep the mattress cool by ensuring it does not retain body heat. The second comfort layer is made of Airflow memory foam, which is created with small channels in the foam that lead to the edge of the mattress. This design is intended to promote airflow through the mattress instead of allowing heat or moisture to build up.
The individually pocketed coils in the bed’s support core feature stronger gauges at the edges to improve the edge support and prevent sagging. Layla also offers a memory foam mattress, and it is also designed with both a firm and soft side, making it suitable for a wide range of sleepers.
While the Layla Memory Foam Mattress includes many of the same elements, some sleepers may prefer the bounce, edge support, and increased temperature regulation provided by the pocketed coils in theLayla Hybrid.

How Does the Layla Hybrid Mattress Feel?
The Layla Hybrid’s feel will heavily depend on which side of the mattress you use. While one side of the mattress is medium soft (4), the other is firm (7).
If you prefer a softer experience which will let you sink in a bit, the medium soft side is the better choice. However, if you weigh over 130 pounds, prefer a firmer feel, or need more support, the firm side will be the better option. That said, we recommend trying both sides before making a decision.Regardless of your size or weight, there is a good chance that one of the Layla Hybrid’s firmness options will provide adequate support.
What Is the Layla Hybrid Made Of?
This mattress combines the pressure relief of memory foam with the bounce and stability of pocketed coils to provide support for just about any type of sleeper. There are two different types of memory foam in this bed, both of which are intended to disperse body heat quickly and keep the mattress cool. The support core is lined with a double row of coils to reinforce the bed’s perimeter.
The cover is made of polyester, viscose, and spandex, resulting in a very soft fabric which is designed to be breathable and transfer heat quickly. The cover is removable for cleaning and includes handles on each side to facilitate flipping and rotating the mattress.
Each side of this mattress includes a layer of copper-infused memory foam over a layer of Airflow memory foam. Both materials provide contouring and are designed to transfer body heat away quickly. The softer side of the mattress has thicker comfort layers, which provides additional cushioning, while the comfort layers on the firm side are thinner.
The Layla Hybrid’s support core consists of a 6-inch layer of pocketed coils. Most of these coils are 14-gauge but there are two rows of 16-gauge coils surrounding the perimeter of the mattress. This is an intentional design feature which provides the support needed to sit comfortably on or sleep close to the edge of the bed without experiencing any feelings of roll-off.
What Type of Sleeper Is the Layla Hybrid Best For?
Since the Layla Hybrid Mattress has both a firm and a soft side, it can accommodate a wide range of sleepers. That said, depending on how you sleep, you may want to put serious thought into which side of the mattress you use.
If you sleep on your side, you’ll likely need more cushioning to prevent pressure from building up in places like the hips and shoulders. As a result, most side sleepers, especially those who weigh under 230 pounds, will prefer the softer side with its thicker comfort layers. However, if you weigh more than 230 pounds, the firm side will provide more support.
While the firm side is suitable for most sleepers who weigh over 130 pounds, the soft side tends to perform better for lighter sleepers who prefer more cushioning to prevent pressure points from occurring.
Anyone over 130 pounds will likely prefer the firm side for back sleeping, since the soft side isn’t as supportive. The ample cushioning on the soft side is comfortable for those under 130 pounds, but anyone heavier will likely experience sinkage around the midsection, which could cause next-day aches.
Those who sleep on their stomachs often need strong support to prevent their midsections from sinking too deeply into the mattress, which throws the spine out of alignment. As a result, people who weigh more than 130 pounds will likely find that they sink into the mattress too much on the soft side, which could lead to back discomfort. While some under 130 pounds may prefer the softer side, most people will find that the firm side is much more supportive for stomach sleeping.
How Does Body Weight Impact Performance?
Body weight certainly plays a role in whether or not your sleep is as restful as possible. It’s very important that your mattress properly supports you and keeps your spine aligned throughout the night.
While the soft side might seem like a more comfortable option for this mattress, it’s important to note that for most who weigh more than 130 pounds, it lacks the support necessary to prevent the midsection from sinking too far into the mattress. This could throw the spine out of alignment and cause next-day discomfort.
Conversely, anyone under 130 pounds may find the firm side doesn’t provide enough cushioning, and that can lead to pressure points developing in the hips and shoulders. Because of this, the softer side of the mattress will likely perform better for anyone in this weight range.
Is the Layla Hybrid Good for Couples?
The Layla hybrid has several features that are beneficial for those who share a bed. Strong edge support ensures you don’t feel confined to the center of the mattress, keeping you supported even when sleeping close to the edge. The memory foam comfort layers effectively isolate motion, especially on the soft side, which decreases the chances of disturbing your partner if you need to get in and out of bed.
This mattress is designed to meet the needs of most people, but it does perform better for some sleepers than for others. If you’re under 130 pounds, but your significant other is in another weight category, the softer side will probably be more comfortable for you, but the firm side might be better for them. Couples with differing firmness preferences might be better served by a split-firmness mattress model that offers multiple firmness levels on the same side of the bed.
