Saatva is an online mattress brand that first launched in 2010. The company offers a wide selection of mattresses, including their flagship mattress, the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf memory foam mattress, the flippable latex Zenhaven, and the Solaire airbed. They also offer hybrid models known as the Saatva HD and the Saatva Latex Hybrid.
The Saatva HD features a Euro-top cover quilted with polyfoam padding, followed by comfort layers of zoned Talalay latex and medium-density memory foam. The support core consists of transitional polyfoam over low-gauge offset coils and a high-density polyfoam base layer. Altogether, the Saatva measures 15.5 inches thick.
The Saatva HD is specifically designed to accommodate sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds, but you’ll probably find the mattress comfortable if you weigh at least 130 pounds – especially if you primarily sleep on your back or stomach. The surface has a firm (7-8) feel and won’t conform very closely, so you won’t sink much beneath the surface. The robust support system also helps to keep your body on an even plane and protect the edges from deep sinkage.

Saatva Mattress Review: Our Verdict
Like other mattresses designed for people who weigh more than 230 pounds, the Saatva HD is exceptionally supportive. This can be attributed to the comfort layers of latex and dense memory foam, along with the robust coil system. Twin and twin XL size models can support up to 300 pounds on each side, and all other sizes can support 500 pounds on each side.
Temperature neutrality is another strong point. The coil layer promotes steady airflow to help the mattress maintain a comfortable temperature, and the latex layer is ventilated for added breathability. You won’t sink much, either, which improves surface cooling. The mattress is also made from durable, high-quality materials. Expect to use this mattress for at least seven to seven and a half years before a replacement is needed.
The Saatva HD is not ideal for couples. The surface is very responsive, and you’ll likely feel some motion transfer when your partner shifts positions or gets up during the night. The coils may squeak and creak, as well. Also, while the mattress is definitely well suited to people who weigh at least 130 pounds, those who are lighter will probably find the mattress too firm.

How Much Is the Saatva HD Mattress?
The Saatva HD costs $2,499 in a queen size. This is fairly expensive compared to the average hybrid model, which costs between $1,600 and $2,200, but the Saatva HD’s price-point reflects its exceptional quality, strength, and durability. If you live in the contiguous U.S., you’ll receive free White Glove delivery. This service includes in-home assembly and old mattress removal.
You may purchase an optional Saatva foundation, which adds $190 to $380 to the sticker price depending on the mattress size you’ve selected. You can also select a $119 metal frame for the mattress in any size. The prices listed below do not include the foundation or metal frame.

How Does the Saatva HD Mattress Feel?
Like many competing hybrids, the Saatva HD has a very responsive feel and conforms to a minimal extent. The latex and dense memory foam comfort layers offer some contouring but do not sink very deeply, keeping your body on a fairly even plane. Many liken the surface feel to both sleeping “on” and sleeping “in” the mattress. The Euro-top cover quilted with polyfoam provides some extra padding, so the mattress won’t feel too hard or stiff.
The thick low-gauge coils and base foam offer extra reinforcement and stability to the entire mattress, which allows you to move around the surface easily and get in and out of bed with minimal sinkage. Although we consider the Saatva HD a hybrid model, the thick offset coils make the mattress very bouncy, making it feel similar to a traditional innerspring.
What Is the Saatva HD Made Of?
Cover Material
The Saatva HD has a Euro-top cover padded with two inches of polyfoam. The cover is hand-tufted to help the foam layer maintain a flat, full shape. Soft and breathable organic cotton encases the cover, while a natural thistle material acts as the bed’s fire barrier.
Comfort Layers
The Saatva HD has a top 1.5-inch comfort layer of Talalay latex. This layer is divided into firmness zones, with softer latex cradling the head, neck, and shoulders while firmer material reinforces the shoulders, lower back, and hips. The latex is also ventilated to promote airflow near the surface.
The second 1.5-inch comfort layer consists of memory foam. This material has a density of 5 PCF, or medium-density, meaning it does not absorb and trap as much body heat as high-density foam. The memory foam also provides some body-contouring but primarily reinforces the latex layer. These components help the mattress maintain its firm feel.
Lastly, the Saatva HD contains a 2-inch polyfoam transitional layer. This component acts as a buffer that prevents your body from sagging too deeply and coming into contact with the coil support core.
Support Core
The Saatva HD’s support core features 6-inch offset coils encased in high-density polyfoam, followed by a high-density foam base layer. The coils have a gauge of 12.5, making them exceptionally thick and supportive. For reference, most innersprings and hybrids contain coils ranging in gauge from 12 (thickest) to 18 (thinnest). The foam encasement around the coils offers extra reinforcement for your body and also prevents the edges from sinking excessively when you get in and out of bed.
What Type of Sleeper Is the Saatva HD Mattress Best for?
Side Sleepers
Many side sleepers prefer softer mattresses that cushion the shoulders and hips, which helps to align their spine and reduce pressure points throughout the body. The Saatva HD is firm and does not conform very closely, but the Euro-top layer offers some padding for side sleepers. The best ratings for the mattress come from side sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds, but those weighing more than 230 pounds will likely feel most comfortable.
Combination Sleepers
The Saatva HD is very supportive thanks to its latex and coil layers. This makes the mattress very well suited to combination back and stomach sleepers, as both of these positions generally require even support and limited sagging around the lower back and hips. Combination sleepers who sometimes use the side position may not feel as comfortable due to the bed’s firmer feel.
Back Sleepers
Innersprings and hybrids are popular among back sleepers because they usually provide the best support. This is particularly true of hybrids with responsive and durable latex layers. Again, the Saatva HD is designed for people in certain weight groups, so back sleepers who weigh at least 130 pounds will probably prefer the mattress over their lighter counterparts.
If you prefer a softer mattress feel and more conforming, we recommend the Saatva Classic innerspring. This model is available in three firmness options, including a soft (2-3) feel that contours closely to your body. Saatva offers three other mattress models with multiple firmness options:

How Does Body Weight Impact the Saatva HD Mattress's Performance?
Body weight is an important consideration for any new mattress, but this factor is particularly crucial for the Saatva HD due to its specialized construction.
The mattress is designed to accommodate 300 to 500 pounds on each side (depending on the size), making it best suited to people who weigh more than 230 pounds. The Euro-top cover and thick comfort layers cushion the shoulders and hips, leading to better spinal alignment for side sleepers in this weight group, while the latex and coil layers keep back and stomach sleepers on an even plane without sagging too much. After testing the mattress, our side, back, and stomach sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds all gave the mattress excellent ratings.
Back and stomach sleepers who weigh 130 to 230 pounds also found the mattress very comfortable, thanks to its robust support system. Side sleepers in this weight group did not quite feel the same way. Despite some padding from the top layers, the mattress didn’t conform closely enough to align the spine or alleviate pressure. For sleepers weighing less than 130 pounds, back and stomach sleepers felt slightly more comfortable than side sleepers, but ratings were poor to fair across the board.
The bottom line: if you weigh at least 130 pounds and sleep on your back and/or stomach or weigh more than 230 pounds and sleep on your side, there’s a good chance you’ll find the Saatva HD very comfortable and supportive. If not, then the mattress will probably feel too firm.
Is the Saatva HD Mattress Good for Couples?
The Saatva HD offers some benefits for couples, along with some drawbacks. One advantage is perimeter support. You and your partner will feel more secure sleeping close to the edges, and should be able to use the bed’s entire surface for sex. The Saatva HD also offers excellent temperature neutrality thanks to its ventilated latex and coil layers. Neither you nor your sleep partner should feel too warm in bed.
The Saatva isolates motion to a small extent, which is typical of firmer hybrids. The coils and latex create a noticeable bounce on the surface, and this responsiveness limits the bed’s ability to absorb motion and reduce transfer. The coils may also be somewhat loud. This mattress may not be a good option for people who wake up easily due to movement or noise from their sleep partner.

Saatva will ship the Saatva HD mattress anywhere within the contiguous U.S. The company may be able to assist customers in Alaska and Hawaii by coordinating their delivery with freight forwarders on the West Coast.
The Saatva HD is exclusively available on the Saatva website. This mattress is not sold through any third-party retailers, including Amazon.com, and the company does not operate any brick-and-mortar locations.
- Shipping

All Saatva HD orders within the contiguous U.S. qualify for free White Glove delivery. This service includes scheduled delivery, in-home assembly in a room of your choice, and old mattress removal. The Saatva HD will not be compressed for delivery. You or another adult (18 years or older) must be at the residence during delivery to sign for the mattress.
You should be able to schedule a delivery date and time within 14 business days of placing the order. However, wait times vary by location.
- Sleep Trial

Saatva offers a 120-night sleep trial for the Saatva HD. There is not a required break-in period, so you’ll be able to return the mattress at any point in the trial. Saatva will coordinate mattress pickup from your residence, but you’ll need to pay a $99 transportation fee to have the bed recycled or donated.
You may also exchange the mattress for a different Saatva model. Exchanges will incur a $99 transportation fee. Once you receive the new mattress, a new 120-night sleep trial will begin.
- Warranty

The Saatva HD comes with a 20-year warranty. The standard warranty is entirely non-prorated. During the first two years of ownership, Saatva will repair or replace your mattress if a defect occurs. Beyond two years, you’ll be able to have the mattress repaired or replaced for a transportation fee of $198 ($99 both ways).
You can also select the “Fairness Replacement Option,” which includes prorated coverage after two years. During years 3 to 5, you can replace the mattress for 30 percent of the original price. This cost increase to 50 percent of the original cost during years 6 to 10, and 75 percent during years 11 to 20. As part of this arrangement, you’ll get to keep your original mattress after the replacement bed arrives. There are no delivery or transportation fees.
Body impressions measuring 1.5 inches or deeper are considered defects under warranty, provided you use a proper support system and do not misuse the mattress. You’ll need a five- or six-legged frame with vertical center support for queen, king, and California king sizes.
