Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Review
S&S Hybrid Mattress
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is an affordable mattress that sleeps cool. Silk & Snow launched in 2017 with a successful Kickstarter campaign for its foam S&S Mattress. Following the success of the S&S Mattress, Silk & Snow expanded its product line to include the S&S Hybrid, which we cover in this review, in addition to bed frames, bedding, and accessories. The company ships directly to consumers with a focus on quality and accessibility.
While both the S&S Mattress and the S&S Hybrid are rated as medium firm, the S&S Hybrid has a higher profile and a zoned pocketed coil support core with a reinforced perimeter. The S&S Hybrid also has an antimicrobial cover and foam comfort system. Each layer helps regulate temperature and keep sleepers comfortable.
We’ll break down the construction and performance of the Silk & Snow Hybrid, including how it is rated based on sleeping position and body weight. We’ll also discuss the benefits of sleeping on a hybrid mattress, and what shoppers should keep in mind before making a purchase. Lastly, we’ll review Silk & Snow’s policies on shipping, returns, and warranty coverage.

Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Review: Our Verdict
The Silk & Snow Hybrid maximizes the benefits of both a foam mattress and an innerspring mattress, while minimizing potential drawbacks. The hybrid construction accommodates most sleeping positions and body types, but is especially ideal for side sleepers who weigh more than 130 pounds, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers.
The coil support core ensures steady airflow throughout the mattress, so it’s also a good pick for hot sleepers. The comfort system includes gel-infused polyfoam to help draw heat away from the body. We think couples will appreciate the S&S Hybrid, as it balances ease of movement and motion isolation, and offers sturdy edge support.
Since the S&S Hybrid is medium firm, shoppers who are expecting a plush mattress they can sink into may want to consider other options. Likewise, those who prefer an ultra-firm mattress may find this isn’t the best fit. Shoppers who want a mattress with a machine washable cover may find the original S&S Mattress more appealing, as the cover can be removed and washed as needed. The S&S Hybrid can be spot cleaned, but the cover is not removable.
Choose The Silk & Snow Hybrid if…
- You are part of a couple

- You are a back, stomach, or combination sleeper
Keep Shopping if…
- You are a side sleeper who weighs less than 130 pounds and need a softer mattress

How Does the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Feel?
The Silk & Snow Hybrid has a balanced feel, with gentle contouring layers and full-body support from the coil base. This is a medium firm (6) mattress, so sleepers should not expect to sink in too deeply. The quilted gel polyfoam and high-density memory foam moderately conform to the shape of the body for pressure relief.
Pocketed coils add bounce to the mattress, making it easy to change positions or move around on the mattress as needed. Sleepers should not feel restricted, despite the use of memory foam in the comfort system.
The S&S Hybrid has zoned support with a firmer feel underneath the hips, and a slightly softer feel underneath the shoulders and legs to help keep the spine aligned. It also ensures support for a variety of sleeping positions and body types.
What Is the Silky & Snow Hybrid Made Of?
The Silk & Snow Hybrid incorporates elements of a foam mattress with a pocketed coil support core. The mattress is manufactured in both the United States and Canada, using family-operated manufacturers. The 12-inch thick mattress is constructed with the following layers:
The polyester and spandex cover of the S&S Hybrid is infused with silver to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It should be noted that the cover cannot be removed, so Silk & Snow recommends carefully spot cleaning as needed. The antimicrobial cover is quilted with the first layer of foam.
The quilted top layer of the Silk & Snow Hybrid has a 1-inch layer of gel polyfoam, which is thermally conductive to draw heat away from the body. The polyfoam layer also cushions the shoulders and hips. Beneath the quilted cover is a 2-inch layer of memory foam. The higher density memory foam layer relieves pressure while preventing sleepers from sinking in too deeply. The foams used are CertiPUR-US Certified and constructed with natural seed-based oils, including soybean oil.
The support core of the S&S Hybrid is constructed of zoned pocketed coils with a foam encasement around the perimeter. The steel coils are double-tempered to increase their durability and lasting support. This layer increases airflow throughout the mattress and helps dissipate heat. Split into three zones, the center coils are firmer while the outer zones are softer to cradle the shoulders and hips. This ensures support for the lumbar region and spine. The firm foam encasement boosts edge support for the Silk & Snow Hybrid, increasing the usable surface area of the mattress and helping to prevent sagging over time.
What Type of Sleeper Is the Silk & Snow Hybrid Mattress Best for?
The Silk & Snow Hybrid is a good choice for all sleeping positions, since the hybrid construction offers both contouring foam and supportive coils. The mattress accommodates different sleeping positions and body types, though there are specific considerations for the following sleeping positions.
Side sleepers need pressure relief, since their shoulders and hips press into the mattress. As a result, these sleepers often benefit from a conforming mattress with a medium (5) to medium firm (6) rating. If the mattress is too soft, sleepers may sink in too far, which can lead to spinal misalignment. A mattress that is too firm can increase the likelihood of pressure points developing. Since the S&S Hybrid is medium firm (6), we find that it offers enough pressure relief for most side sleepers while still providing full-body support.
Combination sleepers shift positions throughout the night, so they need a mattress that offers ease of movement. Those who share the bed with a partner will also want to ensure the mattress isolates their movements to prevent sleep disruptions.
Combination sleepers should keep in mind their primary sleeping position when deciding on a mattress. That said, the medium firm rating of the S&S Hybrid is beneficial for side, back, and stomach sleepers. As a result, combination sleepers should feel supported in all positions throughout the night.
For back sleepers, the right amount of lumbar support is paramount. The memory foam comfort system of the Silk & Snow Hybrid moderately contours to the shape of the body and relieves pressure on the lower back. The zoned support coils help prevent the lumbar region from sinking into the mattress, so back sleepers should have plenty of support.
How Does Body Weight Impact Performance?
In addition to sleeping position, body weight can impact how a mattress performs and feels. We tend to notice differences in mattress performance between the three following categories: sleepers who weigh less than 130 pounds, sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds, and sleepers who weigh more than 230 pounds. The Silk & Snow Hybrid performs well for sleepers in each weight category, but shoppers should keep a few things in mind.
Those who weigh under 130 pounds tend to prefer softer mattresses for a more conforming feel. Side sleepers in this weight category may find the S&S Hybrid to be slightly too firm, though the foam comfort layers offer gentle contouring for pressure relief. Both back and stomach sleepers should feel fully supported.
Sleepers who weigh between 130 and 230 pounds often gravitate toward medium to medium firm mattresses, so the S&S Hybrid is a good fit. The hybrid construction balances contouring and full-body support for sleepers in this weight category, which means it relieves pressure points while keeping the spine aligned. The mattress is firm enough to keep the hips and abdomens of stomach sleepers from sinking in too deeply.
Those who weigh more than 230 pounds benefit from a durable, supportive mattress with thick comfort layers. The 3 inches of foam in the S&S Hybrid cushion the pressure points of sleepers in this weight category and prevent them from feeling the coil support layer below. The zoned coil base offers additional support and helps keep the spine aligned.
Is it Good for Couples?
We consider the Silk & Snow Hybrid to be a good fit for most couples, as it accommodates a variety of sleeping positions and body types. When we look at whether or not a mattress will be highly rated by couples, we consider how well it isolates motion, regulates temperature, and facilitates movement during intimate activity.
The Silk & Snow Hybrid has enough bounce that couples can move around as needed, but the foam layers help isolate motion to prevent sleep disruptions. Furthermore, the foam layers and pocketed coils make minimal noise. The S&S Hybrid also sleeps exceptionally cool, dissipating body heat and keeping hot sleepers comfortable.
Each couple is unique, but those with different comfort preferences and sleeping positions will likely find common ground with the Silk & Snow Hybrid.
