How Much Sleep Do We Really Need?
Newborns
Newborns less than three months old sleep between 14 and 17 hours each day.
As few as 11 hours and as many as 19 hours may be appropriate.
Infants
Infants (between 4 and 11 months old) sleep between 12 and 15 hours each day.
As few as 10 hours and as many as 18 hours may be appropriate.
Toddlers
Toddlers (between 1 and 2 years old) sleep between 11 and 14 hours each day.
As few as 9 hours and as many as 16 hours may be appropriate.
Preschoolers
Preschoolers (between 3 and 5 years old) sleep between 10 and 13 hours each day.
